National Credit Regulator

This page outlines what South African National Credit Regulator data series we make available through EconData. Below, we outline hierarchies present in the data, in order to help you understand the dataset. We also give detail below about the codes used in the series keys, to facilitate programmatic analysis.

Definition

The National Credit Regulator (NCR) is the South African regulatory body responsible for enforcing the National Credit Act (NCA).

Websites

https://www.ncr.org.za/

Dimensions

The NCR produces the Credit Bureau Monitor (CBM) and the Consumer Credit Market Report (CCMR). Each quarterly report provides a number of tables.

The series key is made up of two dimensions:

  1. The first dimension is the TABLE_KEY, which aligns with the table in the respective NCR report
  2. The second dimension is the MNEMONIC, which aligns with the individual line item within each table
